Ada, the National College for Digital Skills was announced by the Prime Minister in December 2014. We opened our doors to students for the first time in September 2016 in Tottenham Hale. We are England?s first new Further Education College since 1993. Our mission is to work with industry to design and deliver an education that empowers all its students, especially women and those from low-income backgrounds, to progress into highly skilled digital roles and lead flourishing lives. Tech City stated that there were over 100,000 unfilled Tech and IT jobs last year in the UK. There is currently no educational provider linking talented young people directly to these lucrative careers. The College seeks to be this bridge and focus on achieving three aims: 1. To be a centre of excellence for the teaching and learning of advanced digital skills 2. To offer students a viable, high-quality alternative to university 3. To be a beacon of best practice for employment-focused provision LOCATION & PROVISION: The College opened its ?Hub? campus in Tottenham Hale in September 2016 with a 16-19 cohort of 60 students. The Higher Level Apprenticeship in Digital Innovation, will launch with an initial cohort in May 2017 with a degree programme, validated by the Open University, at its core. Google have just signed a contract to develop their new software develop apprenticeship with Ada as have the National Archives, Henderson Global Investors and Ruffer Investment Management. We are also developing a gamified learning website for advanced digital skills to support excellent teaching and learning and continue to explore options for how to grow our remit to a truly national scale. The College, a registered charity, is currently supported by a range of industry partners including: Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deloitte Digital, Gamesys, IBM and King. The Board is chaired by Tom Ilube and Martha Lane Fox is our Patron. Capital Funding is supplied by BIS, the GLA and Haringey council. In this placement Associates will be focused on business partnership development and management exploring new industry sectors for the College to grow into and innovative new forms of industry engagement.
