Winglam Tong
Winglam is a social change thought leader and creative writer dedicated to embedding empathy and equity into systemic transformation. Before joining On Purpose, she was an employment lawyer. Alongside her legal career, she co-founded Mender of Things: an Empathy Initiative, a nonprofit in Hong Kong focused on promoting empathy, equity, and social inclusion through arts education. The initiative addresses socio-economic barriers to arts education, empowering young people to explore diversity and inclusion through creative storytelling. Winglam holds a master's in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Oxford, where her interdisciplinary research focused on reconceptualising belonging and building inclusive communities. She also holds a BA in Literary Studies and an LLB from the University of Hong Kong. Currently, Winglam is working on her debut book, which explores silence, bilingualism, and belonging, and is set to be published by the award-winning press 404 Ink. Outside of work, she enjoys cinema, theatre, travelling, and cooking for friends. Winglam is excited to bring her diverse background and thought leadership to the social impact sector as an On Purpose Associate, believing in the power of collective action to drive meaningful change in our culture.
