“It was super useful, enlightening, informative and terrifying - often all at the same time. You dealt with that challenge with true professionalism, impeccable organisation and a real sense of humour”

Matt is CEO of London Youth Rowing (LYR), a London-based youth sports charity. Following a number of years in logistical mechanical engineering as a technician and working in sales Matt joined LYR in 2006 as Programme Director. His focus was on developing the charity’s offer to ensure long term funding for its programmes and projects. As Managing Director and Chief Executive (from 2013) he built a team, culture and organisation, taking the charity from a two person business to a 28 strong team. It is now the largest grassroots community rowing programme in the world, engaging with over 10,000 young people per year, from some of the UK’s most disadvantaged areas.
