Sunil Makwana
Sunil qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG, providing tax advisory services to financial services clients and structuring private equity funds. He later held positions with HSBC and Nomura managing finance teams and projects in the global markets division.
Sunil left banking in 2015 to work in Sri Lanka with grassroots social enterprises, tackling a range of societal issues from food sustainability to empowering women. He worked on a portfolio of projects, including developing business strategies, preparing organisations for social investment and designing communications and marketing strategies. Seeing first hand how sustainable business models could tackle some of society’s most pressing problems inspired him to join OnPurpose.
Sunil loves the outdoors, sport and travel and volunteers with Accumul8, a north London charity that uses creativity to help improve the lives of homeless people. He holds a BA in Economics and Management.
