Madeline Homewood
Madeline joined On Purpose as an engineer with more than 9 years of experience in the property and construction industry. She is deeply passionate about sustainability and social impact, particularly in the context of systems thinking, and has consciously instilled these values in her personal and professional development. Madeline strives for technical excellence in her work and is a skilled critical thinker who brings an engineering approach to everything she does.
Through positions at engineering and property consultancies, as well as client-side secondment, Madeline has led project teams in the delivery of design and construction projects and technical analysis work. She has a wealth of experience in sustainability in the built environment spanning various asset types and stages of the construction process and property lifecycle. Her background in mechanical engineering and passion for the environment organically led to a specialism in energy and carbon and she was a contributor to the development of an industry-leading framework for assessing climate impacts of buildings; the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard.
Madeline also has a keen interest in sustainability and social impact beyond this and has sought opportunities beyond her regular role to engage with the energy sector, circular economy, systems thinking, social enterprise and sustainability leadership. One particular career highlight for Madeline involved working with Pollinate Group, a social enterprise aiming to alleviate energy poverty in disadvantaged communities in India. Madeline is passionate about personal and professional growth, and eager to continue broadening her career experience. She is particularly interested in finance and policy as levers for change.
Outside of work, Madeline enjoys trying new hiking trails, catching live music, wandering through art galleries, and discovering local restaurants.
