Victor Gimenez

Victor is a telecommunication engineer specialized in strategy, innovation and sustainable development. He has an International MBA and more than 10 years of international experience in EMEA (Spain, Italy, Oman, Botswana, Uganda), LATAM (Chile, Argentina) and Asia-Pacific (Australia, China). During the first years of his career Victor worked in the private and public sectors, first as a Technical Engineer, analyzing and setting up mobile networks in Africa and Asia, and then in the Embassy of Spain in Sydney, helping technological Spanish companies do business in Australia and promoting bilateral actions between both countries. During the next years he moved to more managerial roles, first as Country Manager of a telecommunication company in Chile, where he was in charge of the deployment of the subsidiary company in the country and the definition and implementation of its strategic plan. Then, as Executive Director of the Spanish association of telecom and energy companies with solutions to improve sustainability, where he fostered partnerships between public and private organizations to achieve a more sustainable economy through innovative solutions using the latest technologies such as big data and internet of things. In 2017 Victor decided to follow his passion for sustainable development and started working with the Innovation and Technology for Development Centre (itdUPM) of Madrid?s Technical University (UPM) while studying a Master in Strategies and Technologies for Development. Since then he has been working in social and environmental projects focused in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Before joining On Purpose Victor was working in Uganda with United Nations Global Pulse, the flagship innovation initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General on technology for development.
