Transforming storytelling with Anna Patton

I did the Associate Programme in 2014-2015 - a lifetime ago! But I’m glad to still be connected with the On Purpose community, particularly through the Impact Collective, a network of consultants helping organisations to make more impact. We’re mostly On Purpose Fellows, which means that even when new people join, you know they share your values and are ready to get stuck in and do good work together.

Joining the Associate Programme didn’t dramatically change my career - I previously did a mix of journalism, communications consultancy and training/facilitation, which is what I do now. But it did directly lead me to Pioneers Post, an online publication covering the global impact economy. I started freelancing there shortly after On Purpose, and joined as editor in 2018. I’m now a part-time Associate Editor and Training Lead - right now, I’m busy leading a project along with Theirworld, an education charity, to train and mentor young journalists and storytellers from around the world.

In my work, contacts are everything, and the On Purpose network has been a valuable resource over the years. As a solutions-focused journalist I’m always up for connecting with people solving problems in unusual ways; I also write about altruism and philanthropy - do get in touch if you’d like to chat more!
